Primary sources only

Every dollar figure published on this site comes from an official primary source: DFAS pay tables, DTMO housing allowance rates, the Joint Travel Regulations, or enacted legislation. News articles cite the underlying document — a committee markup, a DoD release, a Federal Register notice — not another blog's summary of it. Where two sources disagree, we say so rather than picking one silently.

Projections are labeled, always

Anything that is not yet enacted — like a projected pay raise moving through the NDAA — is labeled as a projection everywhere it appears, with its legislative basis stated next to the number. When the official table is published, the projection is replaced with the real figure.

AI assistance, disclosed

Drafts of articles and guides may be produced with AI assistance. Every published piece is reviewed before it ships: dollar figures are checked against the official rate tables the site is built on, claims are checked against their cited sources, and anything that cannot be verified is cut. AI is a drafting tool here, not an author of record — MilPayGuide is accountable for every published word.

Corrections jump the queue

A reported inaccuracy is the highest-priority work on the site. Report one at contact@milpayguide.com or via the contact form. Corrections are made in place; where a correction changes a conclusion rather than a typo, the change is noted on the page.

Advertising does not touch editorial

The site is supported by advertising and, on some outbound links, by affiliate referrals. Advertisers and partners have no input into rates, calculations, article topics, or conclusions, and no content on this site is paid placement. Nothing here is financial, legal, or tax advice — see about and methodology for who runs the site and where each data set comes from.

What we require of a paid partner

When a link on this site earns us money, it is labeled as such at the point of the link. Before we accept any partner, we read their actual contract against five standards, and we walk away from any partner who fails one:

• They cannot require us to change, soften, or remove anything we have already published.
• They get no approval over our articles, rankings, or conclusions before publication.
• A plain disclosure is enough — no partner dictates the words we use to describe them.
• We stay free to recommend a competitor and to criticize the partner itself.
• No exclusivity. We will always link to Military OneSource, DFAS, TSP.gov, and any other free official resource that serves you better than a paid one.

Partners we have turned down on these grounds are not listed here, but the standard is the reason a company you might expect to see is absent. Recommendations are not for sale.
